CABLED EYELET BABY BLANKET

SIZE:  approx. 36" x 34"

MATERIALS:
 
7 balls (50.gr/170.8 yds per ball) of 
      Hayfield's Pretty Baby Pastels DK
  #6 Knitting needles
  1 Cable needle

GAUGE:  5 sts/6 rows =1"

TECHNIQUE:
A. 2x2 RIB:
    
Row 1:  R. S.  *K2, p2, repeat from * across.
    Row 2:  *K the k sts, p the p sts, repeat from * across.
    Repeat Rows 1 & 2 for pattern.

B.  EYELET:
    
Row 1:  Right Side:  K 22
    Row 2:  P22.
    Row 3:  K1, [yo in reverse (= from back to front)-p 2 tog] 10 times, k1
    Row 4:  P, purling all yo sts through back lps
    Repeat Rows 1-4 for pattern.
C.  CABLE:
  
Row 1:  R.S.  Place first 3 sts onto cable needle & hold in front, k next 3 sts from cable
             
needle.  (Front Twist)
    Rows 2,6 & 8:  P
    Rows 3 & 7:  K
    Row 4:  P1, k4, p1
    Row 5:  K1, p4, k1
    Repeat Rows 1-8 for pattern.

INSTRUCTIONS:
A.  CO 230 sts.
B.  Work in 2x2 Rib for 1".
C.  Section 1:
   
   Row 1:  R.S.  K2-p2-k2 (Rib), p3, *Cable Front Twist over next 6 sts, p4, k next 22 sts
               
(Eyelet), p4, repeat from * 5 times, Cable Front Twist over next 6 sts, p4, k next
               
22 sts (Eyelet), p3, k2-p2-k2 (Rib).
    Continue working Rib, Eyelet, & Cable areas across rows following technique until 
     section = 3.5".  NOTE:  The 3 sts next to the border rib areas & the 4 sts between the
     Cable & Eyelets areas are worked in reverse stocking stitch (P on right side & K on wrong
     side of work.

D.  Repeat B above.
E.  Section 2:
   
  Row 1:  R.S.  K2-p2-k2 (Rib), p1, k16 (Eyelet), p4, *Cable Front Twist over next 6 sts, p4,
               
k next 22 sts (Eyelet), p4, repeat from * 5 times, Cable Front Twist over next 6
               
sts, p4, k next 6 sts (Eyelet), p1, k2-p2-k2 (Rib).
     Continue working Rib, Eyelet, & Cable areas across row following technique until section =
     
3.5".  NOTE:  The 3 sts next to the border rib areas & the 4 sts between the
     Cable & Eyelets areas are worked in reverse stocking stitch (P on right side & K on wrong
     side of work.

F.  Continue working blanket by repeat steps B-E for desired length.   Finish with 2x2 Rib for 1"
    
across top of blanket.  End off.
